As I'm sure you noticed in the Holiday '97 issue (our 25th Anniversary issue), Michele continues a long tradition of us providing to you, our reader, your choice for `GND® of the Year.' I and the entire staff at Montcalm thank you for making this voting the largest to date. As we begin our 26th year of publishing Gallery, we are faced with a very different playing field than the one we started on back in 1972. Back in the early days of Gallery, the competition in the men's field was much less fierce than it is today. In addition, the pressure from outside forces such as government and religious and social groups was not as forceful. The content of men's magazines was in its infancy as far as what and how the pictorials were displayed. Nowadays, some men's magazines are displaying their pictorials with an ever-increasing amount of heat in the photography. I have always tried to portray the contents of Gallery in a manner that was flattering to the natural beauty of women. In the coming year, we are planning a lot of exciting new content for Gallery, to include both editorial and pictorial suggestions from readers that I have received. More interviews with celebrities, sports stars, and political figures. More pictorial content, and a new twist to the `Girl Next Door®' contest that you will read more about in future issues. We all thank you for supporting Gallery over the years, and I encourage you to keep writing in to help us make your magazine what you want it to be.
