Playboy's Girls of Playboy # 5 (1982)

Well, here we are again with another volume in the series you've all taken to your hearts. Luckily for you—and for us—there seems to be no stopping The Girls of Playboy. This time around—our fifth—we've brought you some of your favorite recent Playmates, including our silver jubilee gatefold girl, Candy Loving; Playmates of the Year Monique St. Pierre, Debra Jo Fondren and Terri Welles; actresses Barbara Carrera, Laura Gemser and Linda Kerridge (the Marilyn Monroe look-alike). We've helped you revisit some of your favorite fantasies, such as the discovery of a more-than-willing bride on her wedding night; issued you your own invitation to one of Hugh M. Hefner's fabulous pajama parties at Playboy Mansion West; and taken you behind the scenes of a couple of movies, both for television and the big screen. And, of course, we've brought you the creme de la creme of our Girls of...series, which in recent years seem to have been stirring up an inordinate amount of controversy. Who can forget the righteous Abner McCall's Baptist burbling at Baylor University, when student journalists dared to question his judgment in threatening to expel any coed who posed for PLAYBOY? (Not two of the student journalists, who after leaving Baylor got scholarships elsewhere and eventually became Mr. and Mrs.) Or the riled feminists at Harvard (feminists at Harvard???) who picketed PLAYBOY photographer David Chan? Or the flap stirred up when lobbyist Paula Parkinson, one of the femmes featured in our Beauty & Bureaucracy pictorial, told all about a weekend retreat with Congressmen? Or the flight attendants and, most surprisingly of all, the jiggly pro-football cheerleaders who were disciplined for daring to show PLAYBOY readers more than their uniforms, whether tailored or décolleté, normally showed? In a truly unlikely coalition,the Moral Majority and militant females may be on the march, but we're confident level heads will prevail. Meanwhile, here, fresh from the pages of PLAYBOY, are some of the faces and figures all the fuss was about.
