Playboy's Vanna White Special (1987)

Vanna White and Playboy go back to the days before Wheel of Fortune, before she turned her first letter, applauded her first contestant or waved her shapely hand toward the first major appliance. Vanna was a frequent guest at Playboy Mansion West. When we met, her name meant nothing to most Americans, but we could see that she had world-class beauty and was destined for something more than the modeling assignments and motion-picture bit parts she was getting at the time. We weren't surprised when she became the sexiest and best-known alphabet teacher in history. In March 1986, we named her "Best Game-Show Hostess"; she posed for a Playboy Gallery gatefold in our July 1986 issue and was at the top of the Sex Stars of 1986 (Playboy, December 1986). In May 1987, we put her on our cover and published pre-Wheel lingerie pictures taken by fashion photographer David Gurian in 1982.
