Much of the appeal of lingerie is created by the sense of entering forbidden territory. Underwear isn't something that's casually-discussed; for example, you've probably not spent a great deal of time debating the relative merits of corsets, camisoles and bustiers. Nevertheless, lingerie sales are at an all-time high. Gartered stockings became almost obsolete during the Sixties, when miniskirts and pantyhose were the rage. But they are making a tremendous comeback, with many retailers giving a nod of thanks to last summer's hit movie, Bull Durham. For those who missed it, the film featured Susan Sarandon giving lessons in proper garter belt removal.
