INTRODUCTION When we first published the XXX ILUSTRATED over ten years ago, the concept was to publicize the biggest and most colorful adult-oriented films. In our very first outing, a single movie The Erotic Adventures of Robin Hood filled the whole issue. In the past few years, with fewer adult films being produced, we shifted to covering as many as twelve movies at a time. This year we are glad to get behind two of the hottest directors in X, who incidentally happen to be two of most popular adult actors. John Leslie and Paul Thomas are the two most-awarded male perfomers in erotica. And now it seems, they are well on their way to becoming the most important new directors. With Nightshift Nurses, John Leslie entered into the director's chair for the first time, coming up with a Best Video honor from the X-Rated Critic's Organization. It was announced that John had inked an exclusive deal to direct for VCA Picture and within months Goin' Down Slow and The Catwoman became some of the hottest sellers and most critically acclaimed movies of the year. John graciously agreed to give up an exclusive on the stills from his two latest movies— The Pillowman and Mad Love. Both should be available by the time this magazine hits the stands. Paul Thomas has been directing adult movies for almost three years with splendid results. His Brat series for Vivid, (not to mention being their in-house director) has kept the company that brought Ginger Lynn and a host of other starlets, firmly fixed in the public's eye. Since Paul has such a considerable body of work as a director, we found the best-looking stills from some of his more recent outings. Beauty And The Beast and Little Red Riding Hood are two current take-offs on classic tales that are some of his best work to date. RT. (as he's known to us) also does a pretty deft job of reworking some of Hollywood's box office gold for the carnal cameras. twentysomething I & II and Good Morning Saigon both have you laughing lewdly and keep you thoroughly entertained. Thomas will continue knocking off the classics with Phantom Of The Opera for VCA and some still-secret stories for Western Visuals, but for now these will certainly get and keep you aroused. It should be noted that due to overwhelming support from all the major adult manufacturers we ran out of space. We really wanted to get everybody in this issue but the photos were so good for a change that we will have to give you more movies to drool over next month.
