Let me tell you a story. I was twenty- four years old, sitting one June day in the sun at the Serpentine, a lake in the middle of Hyde Park in London. Yes, I was young, energetic, well built but incredibly shy. I guess my big fear was to approach a woman, and to be rejected. Once I was talking to a woman my confidence would soar. I was okay with it. But making that first approach had my heart beating like a Hawaiian drum. You see I had never been rejected and to safeguard that things would not change I never could summons the will to actually approach a woman cold turkey. It was just something I could not, would not do. But my Hungarian friend Zol had no such problem. He had a certain animal magnetism that I lacked for sure, but he had no fear of being rejected. Why? He was used to it. Heck, it happened every day. He would approach virtually every attractive woman he saw. It was a game to him and he didn't mind if he won or lost. And as you might guess, winds did come his way. Conquests that he wouldn't have made if he hadn't made the first move. This is why my seven years in London were pretty lean. And why Zol's little black book was full from A to Z. So here I am at the Serpentine beach. Bodies in the sunshine everywhere. Zol strolls over to a couple of attractive bikini clad gals. He smiles, sits down year them (but not too close), and starts talking. I'm in total admiration. At first they don't respond. They don't give him the time of day. But he stays cool and keeps talking. Soon the girls start warming up to Zol. After five minutes they are all laughing and talking like old friends. I am totally intrigued as to what he could possible be saying. So I casually walk by to eavesdrop on the conversation. To be truthful, I can't recall his words, but I do recall that he was talking utter garbage. The smallest of small talk, total no-brainer stuff...Silly talk, self-deprecating nonsense; but they were smiling and nodding and enjoying his company. Zol was scoring again. Lesson learned: You don't have to talk about politics, the Middle East or the current stock market situation to make contact. Keep it friendly...and keep it light. EDITORIAL NOTE Lately I've been noticing that guys are becoming much more timid in their approach to the opposite sex. I'm finding that women seem to be the aggressors these days and while sending out sure-fire signals to some guys they are getting no response in return! I have to wonder, are they scared? Do they not feel comfortable with themselves — or are they just not returning the interest? Whatever the reason may be guys ... you need to get out there and take control of your destiny — make things happen! So many guys complain that they don't have much of a sex life yet they choose not to do anything about it. No need to worry because that's why big brother American Curves is here! Through our informative and entertaining articles we'll try to make the average guy feel more confident and help him along in his quest for chicks and every other goody life has to offer.
