"There seems to be no end to the appetite for the celebrity image." And no end to the hunger for another "25 Sexiest" issue of Sleuth... When we last "counted 'em down and stripped 'em off" a dozen issues ago: Communism was still considered a viable political system; "family values" were viewed in terms of supermarket bargains; and President Bush had a 94% approval rating. By the time you read this, all of the above will hopefully be history... And speaking of history, this issue marks our 36th edition—we'd like to think a near "Perfect 36," as the saying goes—and comprises our fourth countdown of the comely and come-hither lone "25 Most Beautiful" volume, and three devoted to the "25 Sexiest•. And it's our most international in flavor: 10 of our sensuous selectees originate from the States, as well as 4 from London, 3 from France {"...and we see their underpants")! We complete our world tour with 2 entrants from Italy and Germany, and 1 each from Australia, Denmark, Brazil and Spain. Long may they rain... As I write this, another selection process is ongoing in America: the Presidential campaign (and to think the Republicans call our methods "smut" 1). Now, more than ever, sex and celebrities seem to be part of the election equation because, in the words of the Democrat's "head celebrity herder" Shallah Weiss: "Having stars makes the convention a little sexier. Maybe there are people who don't read the New York Times, but they'll watch Entertainment Tonight or read Poop/magazine" tor perhaps Sleuth?). Alas, 1988's most decadent delegate, Rob Lowe, was not featured in the 1992 Convention video: "I can tell you he's not coming this year," Weiss explained. "That was a little too sexy. When we say sexy, we don't mean naked."But we do... May the Best Woman Win!
